Technology is great!

How fun it is to be able to make videos and take pictures on the cell phone! It makes it so easy to take quick little videos of cute things Benjamin is doing. Here is one such video. He is starting to really verbalize and it's a hoot to hear him squeal, laugh, talk, gurgle and more.

5 months...hard to believe!

So much has happened since Benjamin has entered our lives! One of the things that got lost in the shuffle was the blog! So I'm going to try to start the new year with new purpose and try yet again to keep everyone posted on our little bundle of joy!

Benjamin and I have been in Ohio since November and have really enjoyed our trip. It was such a thrill to introduce Benjamin to my family and friends. Everyone is just loving on Benjamin and he is enjoying every minute. I thought he might be overwhelmed with all of the cousins, but he hasn't given it one thought! He loves just watching the kids.

Many firsts happened while we were here. Benjamin got his first two teeth within the first week we were here! He was a total gem through the whole thing. No crying or fussiness. What a blessing! We celebrated his first Thanksgiving and Christmas. Benjamin enjoyed eating the wrapping paper Christmas morning. I'm sure next year, he will get into it even more.

At this point he is rolling from side to side...not quite all the way over unless on his tummy and is prodded. He loves to do what I call crunches. When he's laying down, he will lift his head up and lift his legs. He is trying so hard to sit up! He is grabbing things and pulling and is definitely fascinated with faces and touching them. It's so precious! He is getting better being on his tummy and really holds his head up high. He doesn't love being on his belly, so tummy time is limited. Benjamin loves to laugh. He is just a happy boy and I am so thankful for that!

Below are recent pictures. Benjamin at Christmas and 3 month portrait.

And his name will be....

What an amazing process picking a name has been. Who would have thought how overwhelming and what a huge responsibility this would be! Even after making the lists and researching family names and meanings, it was still difficult to decide on a name. Really, even after we already had the name we liked, it took a lot to say, "This is it". We wanted a name with significance and meaning...something our child would be proud to bear and a name that would continue a great heritage.

So we have decided to name our son, Benjamin James.

Benjamin means: Son of my right hand
James means: Supplanter

Both names have special meaning in my family and I'm excited to pass those names on to my son!

Heartbeat: Week 27

Well, I just learned how to make my own movies. How fun! I've utilized my newly found knowledge and made a movie with Baby G's heartbeat. Art & I have technology here at home to be able to listen to the baby. So we recorded the sounds that we heard this morning. Remember it is a little rough but you definitely can hear his heart beating!

nautical nursery

We've been doing some work on Baby G's nursery this weekend and things are really starting to come together. Here are a few pictures of his room so far!

mommy's song to her baby

I know this might be corny but I actually have a song that I love to sing to my boy already. I am a huge fan of The Carpenters and one day as I was driving I heard "Close to You". Immediately I started singing along and as I sang, tears just rushed from my eyes as I thought of my son that I haven't even met. I know the song is a love song but I think it can apply to a mother's love for her boy. If you want to hear the song, it's been added to the blog and should start immediately if you have your volume up.

Baby's 1st Blog

With all the technology today, blogging tends to be one of the best ways to keep in contact with many people. As we journey through the pregnancy of our baby boy, we thought it would be appropriate to keep family & friends up to date by blogging.

This has been quite an adventure so far and we are looking forward to the last trimester! I am feeling much better and even enjoyed a wonderful trip back to Ohio. While in Ohio some friends had baby showers for me. They were delightful and we received many wonderful things for Baby G. He will definitely be the best dressed boy in Yuma!! I don't think we'll need to buy clothes for the first year of his life. : )

Baby G is moving a lot! We love talking to him and feeling his kicks. His nursery is coming together. We have the furniture all set up and we're slowly getting things put away and getting the decorative touches put up. It certainly is becoming more real each day!

We pretty much have a first name picked (it's a family name)...haven't decided on the middle name yet. We aren't saying anything publicly yet...maybe we'll just have to wait to see him first before we actually settle on his full name. : )

We hope you enjoy Baby G's blog and we hope this will be a good means of keeping everyone up to date on our baby story!
